After the success of our 1st THIN WALL INTEGRA Technical Day, it is with great pleasure that we reunited with our partners: Arburg IMM, Pagès automation, Verstraete IML labels, material flow management specialist Koch-Technik , and the material supplier Borealis , for this 2nd edition.

THIN-WALL MOSAIC PACKAGING AWARD 2021 !

COLLOMB has recently developed a concept called Thin Wall Mosaic, capable of reducing the injected weight by up to 30%.

This Award-winning innovation in packaging notably increases the vertical resistance of the packaging by up to 15%.

Stacking and unstacking of molded articles is facilitated by limiting, or even eliminating, the suction cup effect.

Storage and transport logistics are improved by around 15% as well. This tooling design is compatible with a wide range of materials, including 100% recycled plastic.

Already applied to tools in production, it generates very significant gains, with, for example, nearly 50g saved on a bucket weighing 145g.

1st TECHNICAL DAY
THIN WALL INTEGRA !!!

The injection machine manufacturer Arburg partners with Collomb, robotic maker Pagès, IML labels manufacturer Verstraete, specialist in material flow management Koch-Technik, and supplier of raw material Borealis to present the new “one-stop-shop” concept, Thin Wall Integra, for the production of thin-walled containers and more specifically here 5 liter pails.

The partners of Thin Wall Integra bring at each stage of the project, and in a concerted manner, their specific expertise to offer producers of thin-walled containers the technical state of the art but also to secure the quality and deadlines for the industrial implementation.

The main strengths of Thin Wall Integra :

Eco-design using recycled material (55%), the mold design allowing material savings of up to 30%, increased ease of stacking and «Holygrail 2.0» labels, the prospect of more precise recycling of materials used.

Fully automated cell specifically designed for high-capacity packaging applications requiring speed, precision and efficiency as well as great ease of maintenance.

A partnership between complementary experts to offer a complete solution with the commitment of a secure, fast and innovative project implementation.

RECRUITMENT: Our future in motion !

Our technical experts supervise and train new employees in our know-how and learn from new practices.

It is in this spirit of collaboration that we welcome Kevin 29 years old.
After a Bachelor’s degree in work-study program, and 7 years of experience in the machining of high-tech parts, Kevin joined our Integrex division (Combined turning / milling machining centers).

Because the future depends on transmission and technical and human renewal, Collomb is always on the move !

Arrival of the new Mazak i400 combined turning / milling center.

This latest generation multi-spindle machine (Turning, milling, 5-axis) offers versatility and performance in a high-end unit that respects the environment and is economical in terms of energy.

It has a large machining capacity, high precision and unmatched operator ergonomics.

This machining center integrates our combined CNC Turning / Milling division.

The CAD-CAM / Production team has started training and has already been working for several months to optimize manufacturing ranges thanks to the technical possibilities of this machining center.

INCREASE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY !

Target: Make a 2 cavities pail mold that can fit with 3 different existing lids.

Challenge: Analyze the geometry of the existing lids. Each cover has very different drop and leak test results.

Solution: With the customer’s teams, analyze the settings and various tests.

Benefit: The new pail mold reaches the targets with 1 comfortable adjustment range. The improvements made to the 3 existing lid molds have made it possible to optimize the results of the drop and leak tests on all ranges of buckets.

THE TEAM IS STRENGTHENING!

Sébastien, 33 years old, joined us at the beginning of April 2021.

He already has a solid experience in precision machining.

After a work-study program until the HND, he worked for more than 10 years at a local carburettor.

We are currently ensuring its integration and training in Collomb standards, thanks to the mobilization of the entire team in place.

This internal training will soon be supplemented by specific training in machine programming by an external speaker.

We are very happy with this new collaboration!

This month, we present you a design dedicated to your mass productions with this “bucket + handle” mold (with IML and robot handle assembly at our client’s facility). We collaborate closely with injection molding machine manufacturers and IML robots manufacturers in order to offer you production lines with optimal performance.

The detail of the kinematics is analyzed by each partner thus making it possible to retain the best solution. We do everything we can to achieve (and exceed) your goals.

This mission was entrusted to us by a long-standing client with whom we have been working for more than 20 years … such long-term cooperation owes nothing to chance!

NEW ARRIVALS !

2 employees come to strengthen the team of Collomb professionals :

Alexandre 31 years old. CAD-CAM programmer, completes the production team and will bring its experience in industrialization methods.

Martin 26 years old. Plastics and polymer materials engineer (ITECH Lyon) joins the projects team and will work in collaboration with the development department.

We are very happy to welcome them and integrate them into our new projects.
